Dr. Bernard Jensen Booklet #1

"My purpose is to serve and I must serve my purpose" Dr. Bernard Jensen. This is a project I started a few years ago. I wanted to republish these 21 lecture reprints as a tribute to carry on Dr. Jensen's legacy as well as keeping his ideas of right living alive. I had them typed up for me one at a time. My grandfather, Dr. Bernard Jensen lectured throughout the U.S. and around the world about health and nutrition. Early on he would tape record his lectures and then later have them typed up into booklets. He would staple them together and sell them through mail order or at his lectures. The information is as timely today as it was when he started teaching about right living in the early 1940's.

I have edited, revised and added to the booklets, but left the flavor of that time period and you get his distinct voice coming through as the content reflects his speaking to an audience more than his writing style. Writers tend to stay away from writing like they are speaking when writing a book, but Dr. Bernard Jensen was consistent about his self-published books sounding like he was right there talking with you while you were reading his work. Lecture Reprint Booklet Number One covers different natural remedies he discovered and then explains how they could be of benefit to a person. I am releasing one booklet at a time and they will be available on Amazon.

“It is my sincere belief that we cannot be well and live a normal happy life unless we work to attain this happiness through three mediums: mental, spiritual and physical. I do not think that a person, even though he may have a healthy body, can be really happy and live a successful life if he is sick in mind from worry.”

“A wife may be responsible for cooking for her husband right onto an operating table, or even to the undertaker. Here is something to think about! She may also be responsible for the stiff joints of her family.”

How To Have Healthy Lungs And Improving The Eyes

Dr. Bernard Jensen Booklet #7

Writers tend to stay away from writing like they are speaking when writing a book, but Dr. Bernard Jensen was adamant about his self-published books sounding like he was right there with you while you were reading his work. Lecture Reprint Booklet Number Seven takes you through exercises and diet to assist in having healthy lungs. The following are quotes from the book:“Breathing is such a natural process that few ever think just how important this activity really is to the body. You can stop eating, sleeping and even stop thinking, but just try holding your breath for even half a minute and you will see what I mean. When I say there is an art to breathing, I know that many people will think that this is an exaggeration and that you just breathe and that is all there is to it. This is not true. We can breathe ourselves into ill health or we can breathe away the effects of many diseases.”“I give only one form of sniff-breathing, which I call my confidence breath, but I am really indebted to Professor Gaines for this sniff-breathing. He has many variations and they fit many different types of patients, but I will pass on to you the one that has meant most to me. I am sure he will be glad to know that it was passed on to others. You will notice that sniff-breathing, as we call it, will open the chest capacity so that a greater amount of tissues is developed between the ribs. When you sniff-breathe, you do it in this way. There will be one full breath, but you take it in three sniffs. On the fourth count you blow it all out through the nose. In blowing it out quickly, there will be a time coming when the cartilage will keep your chest at a natural full capacity. Sniff-breathing while walking actually quickens your step. I call it the confidence step, because it will take you out of a low spirit and bring you into a high spirit.”

Lecture Reprint Booklet Number 8 covers his philosophy on bringing the different aspects of the physical, mental and spiritual together for living a healthy and happy life. The following are quotes from the book:“You can get well, but you have to mean business in this work to do it. I say this very sincerely. There are a lot of people who are coming to me with just half a mind to get well; with a wishy-washy idea and they only want to do half the job. There is a natural law to follow and if we ignore the natural law we pay. Many of us have come to the place where we realize that if we live on coffee and doughnuts, we pay. We wonder just how much we will have to pay, how many sweets we can get by with, or just what we can do and still get by and go on living.”“Very sincerely I say, that you can try the wrong way as much as you like, but when you are sick of being sick you are not going to go back to your old way of living. You will accept this natural law and natural life and live it. It is entirely up to you, because you are the exchange point. If you want a bad skin, I can tell you how to get it; you can eat it. Do you want diabetes? Just eat white flour and white sugar. It's in the cards; it's there for you.”

Writers tend to stay away from writing like they are speaking when writing a book, but Dr. Bernard Jensen was adamant about his self-published books sounding like he was right there with you while you were reading his work. Lecture Reprint Booklet Number Nine covers his philosophy for living a long healthy life by developing inward calm. The following are quotes from the book:The other day we heard of a man who lived to be 250 years old — Lee Ching Yun was his name. How wonderful to know that a man has lived as long a life as that. He must have been well versed in how to live or he would never have acquired that number of years. We are also told that he lived on herbs, bark, and leaves from trees, and that for 191 years he played tennis. He claimed that the tennis shortened his life somewhat. When we stop and realize what this man has given to the world by his longevity, we cannot help but wonder how much good food and the proper chemical balance in his system contributed to his longevity and just how these chemicals reacted in him during his existence. There are many interesting books we can read which will give us the knowledge we need. The little book, "The Master Of The Inn," by Robert Herrick is excellent.
